408 Status Code Explained

The server timed out waiting for the request. i.e The client failed to send a request in the time allowed by the server.


Why it occurs

According to W3 HTTP specifications: "The client did not produce a request within the time that the server was prepared to wait. The client MAY repeat the request without modifications at any later time".


Fixing 408 Error Code

408 errors are often difficult to resolve. They typically involve one-off variations in system workload or operations. If you see persistent 408 errors, the first thing to consider is the workload on the Web server - particularly around the time the 408 errors were generated.
